Comfit Chestnuts of Marvão - PortalegrePacking: glass bottles: net weight 510g, drained weight 260g
The chestnuts used are of the variety "enxertas" distinguished from the other varieties in the region by its bright brown colour and by being the tastiest.
The chestnuts are purchased from the Agricultural Cooperative of Cereal Producers of Porto da Espada (Marvão), whose groves are located in the Municipality of Marvão - District of Portalegre.
The reputation hit by the Chestnut of Marvão (Portalegre) led to it being classified as Denomination of Protected Origin, being today its production controlled by the OPC-AADP (Private Organism of Control and Certification – Agricultures Association from Portalegre District).
The chestnut harvest occurs daily in the months of October and November, being delivered by farmers on the day of harvesting in the Cooperative mentioned. Here it’s made the cleaning, selection and calibration of the fruits. After only the best and bigger fruits are delivered to Nunes Sequeira.
The transformation process occurs in the factory located in Santo Antonio das Areias - Marvão through a complex and delicate process, with much manual intervention.
During this process is not added any pigment or additive and, ended the same, comfit chestnuts of Marvão are ready to be consumed as one of the most appreciated deserts worldwide.
